DAV Business Manager

In-depth specialist know-how, a solid grounding in business management and the ability to think in terms of process chains are core elements of the DAV study programme. The focus is on teamwork and the acquired specialist and methodological skills are systemati-cally supplemented by foreign language competence and wide-ranging social skills.

The study courses at the DAV lead to the qualification of State-Certified Business Manag-er. This also serves as an entrance qualification to a German university of applied scienc-es, paving the way for the acquisition of a Bachelor's or Master's degree at our partner universities like Oxford Brookes University in Oxford or Heriot-Watt University in Edin-burgh.

Full-time course in Business Management ...

The two-year full-time study course is offered in two subjects. Students of Transport Management/Logistics are mainly from freight forwarders, logistics service providers, the dispatch and logistics departments of the shipping industry or the transport industry, while the International Business course primarily appeals to former employees of import and export companies and the foreign trade departments of industry, banks and insurers as well as transport and logistics companies with international operations.

Students of both subjects can choose their own majors, allowing them to tailor the courses to their specific needs, to systematically build on existing knowledge and to specialise in new fields. The Admissions Committee begins the process of allocating study places around six months before the course starts. As the Committee will only process complete applications, we would ask you to ensure that your documents are complete at the earliest possible date. (Employment references may be submitted at a later date provided they are received before the study course begins.)

… or part-time studies

The DAV offers not only a full-time but also a part-time study programme in International Logistics Management. The students acquire the qualification of Business Manager over a period of three years. The focus is on team leadership in companies with international operations: while continuing to perform their work-related activities, students are pre-pared for challenging tasks in the global business environment.

The advantages are obvious – students remain in their companies rather than taking a leave of absence for the duration of the study course and foregoing all or part of their income. The companies themselves naturally also profit from this study model: they can fully utilise the potential of their high-performing employees, extending their skill sets and preparing them to handle complex tasks and projects. The Admissions Committee begins the process of allocating study places around six months before the course starts.
